YOU SHOULD DO COMEDY: An Improv Workshop from Futile Society

Sat. 3/23 | Doors 10:30 AM | Workshop 11 AM - 3 PM | $25

Have you always wanted to try out improv? Does everybody always say how funny you are? Are you an actor who wants to be more confident in auditions, a stand-up comic looking to improve your crowd work, or a regular human being who has trouble “living in the moment,” whatever that means?

We can help you with that.

Futile Society is The Secret Group’s weekly improv show. In this one-day workshop, we’ll show you how we generate characters, premises, and whole scenes on the fly. You’ll learn how to apply your own secret knowledge to the crafting of comedy, riffing off the world you’re given and building on it in the direction you want it to go. You’ll learn the foundational philosophy that unites all performance and practice the basic tools to be a better player in life.

We’ll also feed you pizza.

ABOUT CRIS

For nearly a decade, Cris Skelton has traveled the world honing his skill at improvisation. He’s trained at Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles, iO in Chicago, and toured the country performing. Improv got him out of being robbed one time, so that’s pretty cool (but not true). In Houston, he was a founding member of Station Theater and performed with Rogue Improv, rated Best in Houston in 2011 by a newspaper that no longer exists. You can catch him every Thursday leading Futile Society at the Secret Group.
